In the late 1960’s, Russell Munson’s friend Richard Bach had written a fable about a seagull who more than anything else loved to fly. The manuscript was rejected by almost every publisher on earth, but caught the interest of Eleanor Friede then at Macmillan Publishing Company. She wanted to publish the book, but said it needed to be illustrated. Bach suggested using Munson’s photography, and the book, “Jonathan Livingston Seagull” was born. These are Munson’s favorite book photos.
